Not Real

"Have you seen Nick?" the boy twirled a soldier figurine around in his hands, not really playing with it but more keeping his mind on something.

"Nick?" the man asked, looking away from the fridge. The boy looked over at him, expression unreadable.

"You know, my brother."

He shut the fridge, sighing and walking over to him. "We've been over this before, you remember?"

The boy looked at him blankly and he felt his irritation rising to the surface again as he continued, "Nick was never real. He was just an imaginary friend. But that's okay, because everyone grows out of it at different stages."

"But he's been with me all my life," the boy moaned, "Mum and Dad knew him."

"They probably didn't want to spoil it for you," he murmured, "but you are an only child. Nick's gone away. He won't come back."

"How do you know?"

His hands clenched into fists, annoyance and impatience surging through him as he grabbed the figurine from the boys clutches, crushing it within his grip, "He's. Not. Real."

He threw the broken toy to the ground and turned, leaving the boy to begin his crying alone.

Isha's Love

3rd time I've lost a post, grrr... Anyway, I had the desire to do a little piece from one of my previous pieces (The Story Of Isha) that's been put on hold since Innocence and Obligation, but I would love to get back into writing it and indeed finishing it one day :)

He loved her. Very much so. But they could never be together. Even if she shared those same feelings for him, it just wasn't possible. Not when she was the only one that could see him, like some little ghost whisperer, with him being the ghost. She'd had enough teasing from her friends to begin with. An imaginary friend they'd called him. Imagine how hard that would be. It was unfair for the both of them. Yet he still wanted to share his world with her one day, just as she had shared with him hers. It was beautiful, both lands. Were it possible? Surely it were, if he could come here than she could go there. He would find a way before they lost it forever. Because that's what would happen in the end. When she wrote those final words. And he would make sure she did. She had to finish the story she'd started and get on with her life before him and his family, his world. No matter how hard that might be.
