The Shadow
It was not her seat. It was nothing of the sorts. Yet no matter how many times she raced her, the cat got there first. and then she'd look at you with those beautiful eyes you can't say no to as she makes herself comfy as your back rest for the next hour, just waiting to stretch out when you get up. That or she'll move to the desk and start snuggling up to you saying 'Mummy, please.' and you have to give her that rub between the ears, that stroke of the nose. Then she'd watch you were typing and try and catch the words as they appeared on screen. Or not catch as such, merely follow them with that head of hers backwards and forwards, distracting you and blocking your view. But that was Shadow for you - she followed you around everywhere.
