Let me make this very clear: we have someone you want. His name is Gabriel. We trust you'll have a big reunion. At this reunion, you will discuss this letter. You all have thirty days to come up with $13,000. Do not contact police. Do not contact Nick. Do not contact Damien. We will make contact in a week's time to discuss payment options. I do not wish you luck."
Jaime finished reading the letter aloud and looked up to face the group gathered around in his garage. He sighed, before looking around at his old high school mates - some he hadn't seen for years. "We all received the same letter addressed to us. It's now down to twenty-five days."
"Someone knew about our support group for Nick," one of the men stated to the group, "And they knew if ever he was released we'd be reforming."
"No," someone else disagreed, "Someone knew about the kids that went to school with Nick, and took a wild guess and someone who would've been close friends with him. The group was confidential, no one else knew about it. They've pulled the rest of the information out of Gabriel."
"When was the last time anyone had contact with Gabriel?" Jaime asked.
"It's been years," Matt muttered, "We all pretty much lost contact when our group fell apart."
"Someone must've spoken to him recently," Jaime tried to convince himself. No one spoke up.
"By the sounds of it, it's a pretty new attack," spoke up another, "We've all seen the news reports. Nick's step-father's been behind all these murders. Set him up for his mother's death. What's to bet he had some of Nick's old school records? Passed them onto someone else now he's locked away?"
"He knew at least some of us would want to get in contact with Nick after all those years, when he mysteriously left school one day and never came back."
"And he wants to prevent us from doing so," Matt acknowledged, "Why?"
"That doesn't matter right now," Jaime sighed, "We need $13,000. How are we going to get it?"
