He ran his finger along the spines of the books, searching, hunting for the right section. Row after row, aisle after aisle... there! He wedged the first book out. This was the stuff he was looking for. He placed it on an empty spot on the shelf beneath and proceeded to pull out one book after the next, the pile stacking up. A librarian walked past, pausing with curiosity.
"Are you okay there, officer?"
"Yeah," he nodded, pulling off the last book and hauling them into his arms, "Just doing a bit of research."
"A bit," she mumbled, sizing up the pile of books stacked in his arms and deducing it to at least fourteen.
"I think that's all for now," he nodded his approval, positioning his pile more comfortable.
"Right this way," the librarian replied.
