Pen's Secret

Eyes... stay... open... they had to stay open. He couldn't fall asleep now. He had to get his message out while they weren't looking. He rolled up the note and grabbed empty pen casing, sizing up the paper with the hole. Too big. His eyes scanned around for another pen or pencil and found one tossed in the bin. He grabbed it, coiling the paper tighter around it, before sliding it into the bigger empty casing and dropping in the actual pen, doing up the lid. It wasn't greatly noticeable, but if she was looking, she'd notice. She'd get it. She'd understand. He hoped. If only she'd forgive him, too.
