Frantic

She waited frantic by the phone, ready to lunge at it the very second it rang. But she'd been waiting an hour and it hadn't rung once. She tried to remain calm. His phone was dead, that was all. But then he'd just use a mate's phone, like he always did. He knew this number off by heart. Why hadn't he rung? She brethed deeply, trying not to think of the worse. Any minute, he'd be on the doorstep. Any minute. If not, she would ring around his friends. Yes, that sounded logical. She didn't wait. She grabbed the phone.

"Hello?"

"Oh, Rob, thank goodness," her voice was hurried, despite the sudden relief that at least one of his friend's answered their phone, "It's Nadine here. Is Caleb there?"

"Isn't he home yet?"

"Well no," her heart pounded, fear flooding through her voice, "We've tried calling him and he always answers my calls... I thought... I thought he was still with you."

"He left three hours ago."

"Oh my god," she screamed for her husband who came hurrying into the room, "We need to start a search party. We need to contact police."
