Hurt You

He slowed down when he saw the car that had passed him earlier parked up ahead. He debated for a minute whether to turn the other way, but decided against it when he saw the young man get out. That was one person he wasn’t going to turn his back to.

“Caleb?” He didn’t seem to recognise the name, but it was definitely the boy from the photos. Skinnier. Weakened. His hair was overgrown, an untidy mess, but hidden beneath would be those same liquid brown eyes.

“Get in the car,” he spoke. His voice was worn. Scared. Fake. His voice was saying something different to his heart.

“Caleb . . .” he whispered again.

“Please, just get in the car,” he ordered a little louder, “I don’t want to have to hurt you.”
