Counselor's Thoughts

I didn’t know what to think of that man. Maybe a little weird? Either way he drew me in. He was intriguing and I knew there was more to him that met the eye, just in our first conversation, if you could call it that. He had spoken much. It seemed he liked to keep to himself, and I wasn’t entirely sure that I could change that. He looked tough, but there was certainly something there beneath the surface. I just didn’t know what it was yet. Was he broken and crying behind that mask he wore? What burdens did he have to bear? And most importantly, what was he serving time for? What was I, as a counselor, up against?
