Too Late

He knew it was too late even as he made to dial the number. It was too much of a coincidence for them to be where they were now – lost in the middle of nowhere. It had all been a trap. He was never going to make it out of here alive. He’d cheated death too many times. He gulped, his fingers fumbling on the keypad as he took a step closer towards the car. He could hear movement behind him, but he dared not look. And then he heard the scream, and forgot all else.
